2. Cabinet of Curiosities (the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography)
Frederik Ruysch, a botany and anatomy professor owned the majority of the anatomical artefacts. He collected unique items of embryology and anatomy. In 1717, Peter the Great bought many of its member agents. Frederik Ruysch, who collected these for more than 50 years, has decided to sell it only to the Russian Tsar. Frederik Ruysch thought that the Tsar knew how to value and appreciate its rarity and could preserve his exception collection for future generations to come.
